About The Program

The goal is to promote a thorough understanding of the economic problems of our time and to develop the research skills of the students. Particular emphasis is placed on equipping students with skills in the use of mathematical and statistical tools as well as basic theories. Our target, however, is at the same time to ensure that our students acquire all the personal attributes demanded by the new global economy.

Profile of the Program

The program analyzes the developments brought about by technological progress and globalization process and the effects of these improvements on Turkey extensively. In addition to the core courses that provide an adequate infrastructure in the mathematics, statistics and econometrics areas, the program also offers a wide range of elective courses such as business, sociology, history and political science. The most powerful characteristic of MIS Undergraduate Program is its academic staff. In addition to the courses, the contents and levels of which are international, taught by qualified faculty members, the application and discussion sessions carried out by assistants are also of special importance.

Qualification Awarded

Management Information Systems, Bachelor's degree.

Length of Programme and Number of Credits

4 years (excluding one year of English Preparatory Program), 2 semesters per year, 17 weeks per semester, 240 ECTS.

Level of Qualification

First Cycle (Bachelor’s) Degree; Level 6 in National Qualifications Framework for Higher Education in Turkey (NQF-HETR, TYYÇ).

Specific Admission Requirements

  1. High School Diploma
  2. Placement through a nation-wide Student Selection and Placement Examinations
  3. Certificate of Istanbul Bilgi University English Language Exam (BILET) or acceptable score of TOEFL, IELTS or similar internationally recognised exams
  4. For graduates of short-cycle degree programmes from the same or related fields of studies of vocational schools (MYOs), placement through a nation-wide Vertical Transfer Examination (Dikey Geçiş Sınavı)
  5. For foreign students, placement by direct applications of candidates to the university and assessment by the university within the frameworks of the publicly available national and institutional regulations published on the university’s web site

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning

The transfer of credits for courses taken outside of Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University is done in accordance with the associated principals of the Regulation by the respective Faculty or Institute Management Board. Students can be declared to be exempt from these courses if the associated Faculty/Institute Boards deem that the course content of the course taken at a different institution is in accordance with the content of the course given at Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University.

Qualification and Graduation Requirements and Regulations

A student is required to complete 240 ECTS credits and achieve a minimum CGPA of 2.00/4.00 with no failing grades.

Programme Learning Outcomes

Graduates of the programs will be able to;

  1. Formalize economic or business problems by applying algebraic, graphical, and statistical tools and provide analytical solutions for them.
  2. Distinguish between problems that are within the scope of the field of economics and those that are not.
  3. Make use of tools from different sub-disciplines of economics in dealing with economic problems.
  4. Make macroeconomic policy suggestions for the aggregate economic activity using conventional models.
  5. Effectively use computer software, international databases and online tools in order to analyze and interpret economic data.
  6. Present a broad view about daily economic activities by comparing and contrasting different economic theories relevant to the issue.
  7. Make use of economic concepts and specialized economic vocabulary in their original written and oral work.
  8. Have the ability of organizing social projects and activities in accordance to the needs of society by using knowledge of social research and planning and having social responsibility and awareness.
  9. Effectively use computer software, international databases and related internet and web opportunities in order to analyze and interpret economic data.
  10. Effectively use the knowledge obtained via university education in their further academic and private career with the desire of developing further abilities and knowledge after graduation.
  11. Possess international values, respect ethical values, open to change and progress, willing to particapate to team work, take initiative if necessary and be examplary individauls to society.
  12. Play an active role on process of learning and critically asses and evaluate knowledge through cause and effect analysis.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates

We believe that our graduates will be able to play an important role in any institution and in any sector, not only in Turkey, but also at the international level. Graduates of the Program can take jobs in both public and private sectors and can be employed in diverse functional departments of business and non-business organizations. The functional departments that are most likely to make effective use of Program’s graduates are accounting, internal auditing, finance, human resources management, business development and strategy, production planning, procurement, and marketing departments. Graduates of the Program can also be employed in consultancy business and can seek academic careers in the related fields.
